How MATCON INC. collects, uses and protects your information, and how cookies and measurement tools are used on this site. Effective September 10, 2026.

MATCON INC.(“MATCON”, “we”, “us”) is a family-run renovation contractor based in Georgina, ON. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit www.matconrenos.com, call us or send us an enquiry, why we collect it, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. It is written to meet the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Canada’s federal private-sector privacy law.

01Who we are

MATCON INC. is a home renovation and construction company operating from Georgina, ON, Canada, and working across Durham Region, York Region and Kawartha Lakes. We are the organization responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Our contact details are at the end of this page.

02What we collect

Information you give us. When you use the contact form or the consultation request form, we collect what you type in: your name, email address, phone number, the city where the project is located, and the details of the project you describe (type of renovation, budget range, preferred start, whether you have drawings, and your message). If you call or email us directly, we keep the correspondence and the notes we take.

Information collected automatically. When you browse the site, our hosting provider and the measurement tools described under Cookies & similar technologies record technical details: your IP address, the type of device and browser you use, the pages you view and how long you stay, the site or search that referred you, and, if you arrived from a Google ad, the click identifier Google attaches to the link (a gclid, gbraid or wbraid value) together with any campaign tags in the address.

We do not ask for, and you should not send us, payment card numbers, government identifiers or other sensitive information through the website.

03Why we use it

  • To respond to your enquiry, answer your questions and send you the information you asked for.
  • To schedule and carry out a free in-home consultation, and to prepare a scope, budget and schedule for your project.
  • To run the business: keeping records of enquiries and projects, meeting our legal and accounting obligations, and honouring our written warranty.
  • To understand how people find the site and which pages are useful, so we can improve it.
  • To measure whether our advertising works, so we spend on the ads that actually lead to conversations with homeowners, and not on the ones that do not.
  • To protect the site from spam and automated abuse.

We rely on your consent for the measurement and advertising uses, and on the reasonable expectation that we will use your contact details to reply when you write to us. We do not use your information for automated decision-making, and we do not sell it.

04Cookies & similar technologies

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Local storage is a similar browser feature used for settings. This site uses a small number of them, listed below. The Google services are provided by Google LLC; how Google uses the data it collects is described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services (opens in a new tab) and in the Google Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab).

Uses the Google Ads cookies above

When you arrive from a Google ad, the phone number on the page may be replaced with a Google forwarding number that connects straight to us. Google may share the call duration and the caller's area code with us so the call can be attributed to the ad. Calls are not recorded by this feature. For the duration of the visit

Cookie set by our server; browser storage entry

Set only after you submit the consultation form. The cookie confirms the submission so the thank-you page can display; it carries your name, a summary of your project answers and one-way hashes of your email address and phone number, never the email address or phone number themselves. The storage entry remembers that the thank-you page has already reported your request so a refresh is not counted twice.Cookie 1 hour; storage entry about 3 hours
Bark reviews badge

Script and images loaded from bark.com

The footer shows our Bark.com reviews and verified-business badges. Loading them sends your IP address and the page you are on to Bark (Bark.com Global Ltd., UK), which may set its own cookies.Per Bark's own policy
Map on the contact page

Embedded map from openstreetmap.org

The contact page embeds a map from the OpenStreetMap Foundation (UK), which receives your IP address when the map loads and may set its own cookies.Per OpenStreetMap's own policy

In the opt-in regions listed under Your choices, the Google measurement cookies are set only after you choose Accept. Everywhere else, including Ontario, they are set when the page loads while the cookie notice is showing, and choosing Decline turns them off and removes the ones already set. The theme and consent entries and the form-security cookie are strictly necessary for the site to work as you expect and do not require consent; the attribution entry is only kept while advertising measurement is allowed.

05Enhanced conversions

When you submit the consultation form, we may send Google a scrambled version of the email address and phone number you entered so that Google can check, in its own records, whether the enquiry followed a click on one of our ads. The scrambling uses a one-way hash (SHA-256) performed on our server before anything is sent. Google cannot read the original value from the hash; it can only check whether it matches a value already held by a signed-in Google account. Google calls this feature “enhanced conversions”.

This happens only while your consent for advertising measurement is in effect (see Your choices). If you decline, the hashed values are not sent and the enquiry is not linked to a Google account.

06Your choices

  • The cookie notice. On your first visit a small notice offers Accept and Decline. In regions whose law requires opt-in consent (the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Quebec) measurement cookies are not set until you choose Accept. Elsewhere, including the rest of Canada, they are set by default with this notice, and Decline turns them off.
  • Change your mind at any time. Use the link, which also appears in the footer of every page, to re-open the notice and choose again. Your new choice applies immediately.
  • Google controls. You can manage ad personalization in your Google Ads Settings (opens in a new tab) and block Google Analytics in every browser with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on (opens in a new tab).
  • Browser settings. Every browser lets you block or delete cookies and clear local storage. The site will keep working if you do; the theme and cookie choice will simply reset.
  • Talking to us. You never need to use the forms. You are always welcome to call 416-779-5274 instead.

07Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the service providers we need to run the site and the business, and only for the purposes above:

  • Google LLC — Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads and Google call tracking (measurement and advertising, as described above). Google may process this data on servers outside Canada, including in the United States.
  • Vercel Inc. — hosts the website and keeps standard server logs (IP address, request details) for security and reliability.
  • Google Workspace — delivers the enquiry emails to our business mailbox and stores our email correspondence.
  • Bark.com Global Ltd. and the OpenStreetMap Foundation — receive your IP address when the footer review badges or the contact-page map load, as described in the table above.
  • Trades and suppliers — once you become a client, the licensed trades and suppliers working on your project receive the details they need to do the work, such as the site address and schedule.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, for example in response to a valid court order. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not share your contact details with other businesses for their own marketing.

08How long we keep it

  • Enquiry emails and consultation notes are kept as business records for as long as we may need them to answer questions about the enquiry, prepare or honour a contract, or meet legal and accounting obligations, and are then deleted.
  • Client and project files, including warranty documents, are kept for the life of the written warranty and for the period required by tax and construction-lien law.
  • Google Analytics data is kept according to the retention setting in our Google Analytics property, up to 14 months for user-level data, after which Google deletes it; aggregated reports are retained.
  • Google Ads conversion data is kept by Google according to its own retention policies.
  • Cookie and local-storage lifetimes are listed in the table above.

09Security

The site is served over HTTPS, so what you type into a form is encrypted on its way to us. Form submissions travel from our server to our business mailbox over an authenticated, encrypted connection. The form-security cookie is signed so it cannot be forged, contains no contact details, and expires within an hour. Access to enquiry emails is limited to the people at MATCON who handle new projects. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care with the information you trust us with, and we would tell you promptly if we learned of a breach that put you at real risk of significant harm, as PIPEDA requires.

10Children

Our services are for homeowners and our website is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

11Your rights under PIPEDA

Under PIPEDA you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you, how it is used and who it has been shared with, and receive a copy of it.
  • Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Withdraw your consent to measurement and advertising cookies at any time, using the Cookie settings link, and withdraw consent to further contact from us by telling us so. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that already took place, and some records must be kept to meet legal obligations.
  • Ask us to delete personal information we no longer need for the purposes it was collected.
  • Ask questions or raise a concern about how we handle your information.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We will respond within 30 days, and we will not charge you for a reasonable request. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (opens in a new tab).

12Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices or the tools we use change. The effective date at the top tells you when it was last revised. If a change materially affects how measurement cookies are used, the cookie notice will ask for your choice again.

13Contact

Questions about this policy, or requests about your personal information, go to the people who run the business, not a call centre.
